Norton (Symantec) Firewall Instructions


1) Open Norton

  1. You need to configure your Norton / Symantec Internet Security software firewall to allow PC Data Backups permission to connect to the Internet.
  2. Changes to either may prevent cause your firewall to block PC Data Backups' attempt to connect.
  3. Open Norton / Symantec Internet Security by clicking the system tray icon (like the image below) or Start > Programs (or All Programs) > Norton (Symantec) Internet Security.

2) Personal Firewall - Configure

  1. Click the Personal Firewall tab (or Client Software tab for Symantec Corp Edition) in the middle of the screen.
  2. Click the Configure button on the bottom right.

3) Programs - Program Control

  1. Click the Programs tab.
  2. Under the Main Program Control list, find "Agent Service Module (AgentSRV.exe)" and set Internet Access to "Permit All".
  3. Find the "PC Data Backups Client Software (COBackup.exe)" and set Internet Access to "Permit All".

4) Program Control Popup

  1. Test to make sure PC Data Backups will connect to the Internet.
  2. Right click our system tray icon, and select "Run a Backup Now".
  3. If you ever see this "Program Control" screen pop up regarding "AgentSRV" or "PC Data Backups", just select "Permit" and click OK.
