How do I determine how much data I am currently backing up?

PC Data Backups capacity is based on the amount of data you currently have selected for backup.

If you have more data selected for backup than your plan allows, your backups will stop.
In this case you will not be able to backup until you have deselected some data, or you have upgraded your account size. Files you deselect will no longer be used as part of your total selection, but will be archived for another 30 days just in case you change you need to retrieve them.

To find out how much data you have selected:
  • Open your PC Data Backups software.
  • Go to:Start > Programs > PC Data Backups (or > Start > all Programs > PC Data Backups) Backup View tab.
  • After the scan completes, in the left column (below the large word “BACKUP”) you will see 4 lines of data
  • The 3rd line indicates how much data you are currently using. (Example: "Total selection: 10.58 GB")
  • The 4th line displays your backup limit. (Example: Backup limit: 29.3GB*)
Backup Limit
Note: This size is displayed as converted to “Binary” Byte measurement, where 1024 bytes of data equals one kilobyte, in order to be compatible with Microsoft file systems.  Hard drive manufactures measure hard drive space in “Decimal” measurement where 1000 bytes of data equals one kilobyte; hence you will see “smaller” sizes displayed here than what you see: kilobyte
