Will your software back up my database files?

Database files are held open and locked by the database which created them.

PC Data Backups software is not able to back up database files unless you take additional steps.

Below are several methods you may utilize to backup you database files.
  1. Most databases can create their own backup image. If so, you should use your database to create this backup image (file), and then use PC Data Backups software to backup that file to our data centers.
  2. Use a backup program to take a snapshot of your database files. The Windows Native Backup may or may not work for you. It may not be able to access the files (depending on the database you use) It is also an "all or nothing" recovery, so you should use it for a specific file or set of files only. Then backup the file(s) created by Windows Native Backup
  3. Use Third Party software, for example: Veritas Backup Exec, which will be able to take a snapshot of the open file, save this to your hard drive and back it up with PC Data Backups software.
You may choose to utilize Windows Task Scheduler to perform one of the above tasks, daily before PC Data Backups is set to run.
