How do I configure PC Data Backups to work with my modem?
Please note, PC Data Backups will work with most modems, but slower transmission speeds may make the larger account sizes
impractical. (Keep in mind you could set up PC Data Backups first at a location where there is a high-speed connection, then,
after the first backup is complete, move the PC back to the location which only has the modem connection.)American Online
and Earthlink seem to require that the connection be established first, and will not let PC Data Backups connect to the
internet, unless they are already opened.
During the installation you should choose the option for a modem and then select the connection for your Internet Service
Provider. If this did not work or you need to change your settings:
- Open the PC Data Backups software. (>Start >Program {or >All Programs} >PC Data Backups
>PC Data Backups).
- From the “Options” Menu choose “Connection…”
- Highlight “Use Dial-up Networking connection“
- In the drop-down box select your Internet Service Provider
