Disadvantages of Mirrored Drive Backup

Mirrored drives or RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Drives) will only offer you minimal protection from a hard drive crash... nothing else!

Do not be fooled into thinking that mirrored drives, RAID systems, or additional internal or external drives are your solution to proper data protection. In fact, they provide only minimal protection against only one type of data loss...hard drive failure and nothing else.

If both the primary drive and the mirrored drives suddenly go away at the same time due to fire, flood, theft or sabotage, then you will have wasted every dollar and every minute you have ever spent on data backups up until that point . . . period!

Disadvantages of Mirrored Drives

Mirrored drives or RAID systems do not protect you from:

Mirrored Drives or RAID Backup Overview

Drive costs $100 to thousands
  • Are all the drives internal or are they sitting right next to the computer?
  • What would you do in the event of fire, flood, theft or sabotage?
  • Could a power surge or lightning strike take them all out at once?
The bottom line is that you need a proper offsite data backup plan in place. These type of events happen all the time and if it suddenly happens to you, what would you do? Would you be able to recreate your data? How much would it cost? More than PC Data Backups? Our mirrored data centers offer a higher level of data security and protection at a lower price.
