Evaluate Your Backup Plan

If you already have an existing backup system in place (or if you are exploring new options), we can help you evaluate it so you can see if it is really protecting your data properly and cost effectively.

No matter what type of backup system you currently have in place (or are looking to purchase), you should always ask yourself these important questions:

How often do you really backup your data?
  1. Every night, once a week, every now and then, or just whenever "the fear" sets in.
  2. Do you physically perform backups or is it an "automated routine" (i.e. you use the same tape or disk over and over and rarely remove it from the drive).
  • PC Data Backups automatically backs up all your data securely offsite every night.
What would happen to your business if you lost all or some your data unexpectedly?
  • How much money would it cost your business if you lost...
    1. One day's, one week's or one month's worth of data?
    2. ALL of your data?
  • Would you be able to quickly recreate all or some of your data?
    1. How much would that cost you?
    2. What would you do and how much would it cost if you couldn't recreate it?
    3. What if your hard copies were also lost with your digital data?
  • Could you continue to conduct business as usual?
  • Could you even continue to conduct business?
  • PC Data Backups is a cost effective and smart insurance policy to protect your most valuable asset... your data!
Who actually performs your backups every night?
  1. The CEO, owner or manager? (Couldn't their time be better spent elsewhere?)
  2. Expensive IT or admin staff? (How much do they cost you per hour?)
  3. A minimum wage person in the company (With the least amount of IT experience?)
How many backup tapes (at $50 to $100 each) or disks do you use?
  1. Do you use just one or just a few over and over? (The worst thing you can do.)
  2. Do you use a minimum of 5 tapes for a Monday through Friday rotation?
  3. Do you use 9 tapes for Monday through Friday, plus 4 for a weekly offsite rotation?
  4. Do you replace your tapes once every one to two years (highly recommended by most IT professionals)?
  • PC Data Backups requires no special backup hardware.

Do you actually take your backups offsite and how often?

  1. Every night, once a week, once a month, only once, or never?
  2. Is this a rigid routine or just on just when you feel like it?
  • PC Data Backups automatically backs up your mission critical data securely offsite every night to two mirrored data centers without any human intervention.

Where do you physically store your backups?

  1. Onsite right next to the computer it is backing up?
    • What would you do in the event of fire, flood, theft or sabotage?
  2. Offsite in a safety deposit box, "fire" safe, a night stand at home, car glovebox, your secretary's purse, etc., or you just don't know.
  3. Does someone in your company have access to both your data and all the backups?
  4. Could that person become disgruntled and destroy both?
  5. Could these backups ever be stolen? (disgruntled employee, competitor, etc.)
  6. Would you ever know if one of your backups was missing?
  • PC Data Backups stores your data offsite at two very secure and separate mirrored data centers both are protected by a level of security that is extremely hard to match.
Have you ever performed a practice restore from your current backups?
  1. What would you do if you found out you couldn't restore your data when you needed it most?
  2. Did you know that if you get one grain of sand, speck of dust or any type of water or heat damage to your tape, CD or DVD backups that you more than likely will not be able to restore from it?
  • PC Data Backups safeguards your data from media degradation.

What is your current backup solution?

  2. Mirrored or Raid Drive Backups
  3. DVD Drive Backups
  4. CD-RW Drive Backups
  5. Jaz Drive Backups
