Data Loss Risks - Human Disasters: Data Theft

If your backups go away with the very computer it was backing up, then you will have wasted every dollar and every minute you have ever spent on backups up until that point.

The theft or loss of a mission critical PC or Server can be devastating to a business... especially if your backups are stolen with the computer itself. Even used tapes can fetch $10-20 on the black market, making them susceptible to theft.

You may think that you are prepared for such an event by having business insurance, but you probably are thinking about just the computer recovery costs... not the data recovery costs! More often than not, data loss costs are not covered by your typical business insurance. Computers can always be replaced, but data cannot. Losing a computer can cost you only a couple thousand dollars, but losing your data and your backups can cost you tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.

If both the computer and the backups are suddenly gone, exactly what would you do? Have you ever thought about it? Could you continue with your business? Could you recreate it? How much would it cost you in the long run? More than many years of our PC Data Backups service? Is it worth 33 cents to $1 a day to sleep well knowing that your data is securely backed up offsite at our two mirrored data centers every night?
